Final Year Project

Project Title

Single, Undergrad Women Living Independently in Karachi: The Struggles and Their Impact on the Success of Their Education

Description

In my project, I investigate the life of a university student who lives alone and explore the difficulties encountered when living alone and how it affects education. My final product is an illustrative tale of a young woman who leaves her traditional, conservative family to live on her own. It delves into how Karachi treats her differently and whether she can achieve the independence she has always yearned for abroad. During the research process, I discovered that the biggest concerns revolve around security and accommodation, as the concept of single women living in Karachi is still new and unfamiliar to the society. This project also encapsulates the daily struggles women face and aims to showcase how it empowers them in the end, if indeed it does.
